Rift Valley University Centre for Oromo Culture Studies on Nov.16, 2018, organized a half day workshop to review a proposal for the establishment of Centre for Oromo Studies at RVU Head Office located at
Gotera .

Rift Valley Leadership, Board members, Campus Deans from all over the country, RVU Academic community and invited guests were in attendance.

The workshop was opened with traditional Oromo blessing. Invited renowned scholars from public university and concerned Oromiya Regional state representatives have also attended the workshop.

Professor Derebsa Dufera, President of RVU made an opening speech and officially opened the workshop.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Gamachu Megersa, Director for Oromo Studies presented the Foundation Document and a proposal

for the establishment of the Centre.

 

 

 

Six scholars from Public University, who were assigned to review the document, presented their critical reviews. In this workshop, participants from different academic background and experiences have cross fertilized ideas and enriched the document.

The moderator encouraged participants to entertain various ideas and experiences that in many ways benefited the
Centre. The Workshop has positively contributed for the intended purpose.

Finally, the Board members and RVU academic community accepted the document as the work in progress, and encouraged the Director to work hard so as to upgrade it to the required level.
